Job Title: Systems Administrator Technician
GDIT supports complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the country. As a Systems Administrator Technician, you will maintain and support computer, voice, video, network, and server hardware, ensuring reliable IT services for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Perform service operations and support service transition activities for IT infrastructure, including desktop computers, thin clients, servers, telephones, cabling, and administrative functions.
Maintain current technical knowledge to resolve complex issues requiring detailed systems and application understanding.
Install, upgrade, repair, and support customer baseline equipment and related devices.
Perform daily systems checks, datacenter walkthroughs for alerts/alarms, and service degradation monitoring.
Handle anomaly, incident resolution, and request fulfillment, including IMACD support, Trusted Agent support, asset & configuration management, and overall incident and change management.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, isolate, and resolve system service failures to meet program resolution timelines (Critical, Essential, and Support).
Perform hardware maintenance such as reseating cards, rebooting, replacing components or cabling, and re‑imaging software to approved baseline standards.
Provide customer‑friendly explanations of technical terms and recommend solutions to diagnose and resolve system issues.
Communicate incident tickets and change request updates with managers, team members, service providers, customers, and stakeholders.
Update incident documentation, configuration management database (CMDB), knowledge articles, training resources, and other documentation.
Support non‑standard surge services for special projects and high‑visibility activities as directed.
Collaborate with internal and external customers, agencies, and service providers.
Participate in incident, problem, and change management resolution activities, including Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs).
Recommend process improvements and integrate support best practices.
Participate in special projects as required.
Qualifications
1+ years of related experience in desktop computers, thin clients, servers, VoIP phones, video conferencing, cabling standards, installation, systems administration, testing equipment, and ITIL best practices.
Understanding of IT infrastructure and operations as described in the responsibilities.
Minimum DoD Information Assurance (IA) certification: CompTIA Security+ CE.
Privileged user access will be granted; user must comply with privileged user policies and zero‑tolerance security violations.
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and U.S. citizenship are required.
Physical ability to move between customer sites as assignments may require travel less than 10% of the time.
