Requirements
  • We are looking for a proven IT leader with previous experience in a similar Head of IT or IT Director role, ideally within a service-focused organisation.
  • We require a bachelors degree or higher, ideally in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in project delivery such as PMP, PRINCE2 or Agile, and IT service management such as ITIL, are advantageous but not essential.
  • We need a strong track record of leading technology transformation, including application modernisation.
  • We require broad IT expertise with hands‑on delivery experience across several of the following: enterprise architecture, business applications, infrastructure and operations, IT service management, data and analytics, cyber security, and AI/automation.
  • We are looking for experience managing multi-disciplinary IT teams and developing high‑performing, collaborative, customer‑focused teams.
  • We need strategic thinking and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • We require proven experience in managing complex IT environments and driving innovation.
  • We need excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts into business language.
  • We are looking for someone who can respond effectively to change and challenges and build strong relationships across departments.
Responsibilities
  • We lead the delivery and execution of our technology and data strategy to support operational excellence, customer experience and long‑term business performance.
  • We develop and implement our IT operating model, evolving the function from a legacy, infrastructure‑focused structure to one with strong service, application, architecture, data and digital capabilities.
  • We lead, mentor and develop our IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • We coach and develop rising talent within our IT team, supporting succession planning and career development.
  • We act as a trusted strategic business partner to all departments, identifying technology, digital and data solutions that improve operations and unlock efficiencies.
  • We lead and govern enterprise architecture, defining principles, standards, design authority and decision‑making processes.
  • We own and continuously rationalise our application portfolio to reduce duplication, technical debt and unsupported solutions.
  • We establish and maintain effective architecture governance across a decentralised application landscape.
  • We ensure the successful end‑to‑end delivery of technology programmes and technology elements of wider transformation initiatives.
  • We provide leadership of IT operations and end‑user support services, ensuring stable, secure and high‑quality services.
  • We lead our cyber security strategy and operations, ensuring robust controls, governance and risk management.
  • We oversee our data, integration and analytics capabilities, ensuring data is governed, accurate, accessible, secure and effectively integrated.
  • We build strong partnerships with business leaders to define technology ownership, process design, change adoption and benefit realisation.
  • We define and enforce technology standards covering application selection, solution design, integration, cyber security, data management, resilience, support models and lifecycle planning.
  • We drive the adoption of automation and AI technologies where appropriate to improve efficiency, insight, customer experience and service reliability.
