Within our Transportation Practice, LJB has spent more than five decades designing infrastructure that connects people, supports communities, and improves quality of life. We are currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Cleveland, OH office.
Annual Compensation $95,000 – $185,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager Essential Functions
Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects.
Point person and firm’s contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
Assist in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
Guide and coordinate all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub‑consultants, and clients.
Has a basic understanding of other transportation disciplines, including their requirements for each project.
Responsible for the nine knowledge areas of the Project Management Institute (PMI) associated with each phase of the project:
Project Integration Management
Project Scope Management
Project Time Management
Project Cost Management
Project Quality Management
Project Human Resource Management
Project Communications Management
Project Risk Management
Project Procurement Management
Assist the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
On larger projects, the PM may or may not be directly involved in design.
Apprise Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects.
Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects to manage staffing.
Assist in informal development of other employees.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
P.E. license required, Ohio PE is preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain their OH PE within the first year of hire.
At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
Experience working on DOT design projects is required; experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of project management experience preferred.
Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM and Project Management software.
Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil‑3D.
