As a Building Mechanical Design Coordinator/EIT, you will support HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing design tasks, working under the direction of a Mechanical Engineer or Project Manager. You will perform routine assignments, work independently on small projects, assist senior engineers on larger projects, and coordinate schedule, analyses, cost estimation, equipment selection, document coordination, and construction contract administration.
Responsibilities
Perform routine HVAC/mechanical and plumbing engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
Work independently on small HVAC/mechanical and plumbing design projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase.
Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations.
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
Work with HVAC and plumbing vendors to select mechanical and plumbing equipment, systems, and devices.
Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
Review mechanical and plumbing documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed‑upon changes into the project documents.
Provide construction contract administration as needed.
Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of “Coordinator” and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression. Active participation in industry organizations is encouraged. Participation in professional development seminars, courses, workshops, or conferences is encouraged and should be approved in advance of attendance.
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
Recent graduates will be considered.
Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace3D, or similar software.
Project Management experience is a plus.
Experience using IESVE Calculation Software.
Construction administration experience is a plus.
Preference given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software).
