Summary The
Inside Sales Specialist
is responsible for providing outstanding sales and service support for our customers and territory management team within a fast‑paced environment. This role handles a high volume of product sales, price quotes, order entry and delivery scheduling, customer follow‑up and related duties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Communicate and work effectively with customers, vendors, management, dispatch and other employees.
Provide service for Erie Materials’ customers including:
Greet customers in person and over the phone in a professional and courteous manner.
Provides customers with current building materials product information, current specials and promotions and information on differences between the products we offer.
Identify and sell to the customer on additional accessories and other products related to their order.
Provide building materials product quotations for the customer.
Follow up with customers for potential orders.
Take and enter orders into the ERP system.
Purchase special order products for customers directly through the vendor; and follow up with customers and vendors as needed.
Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
Process cash and credit card sales transactions.
Process purchase order and receiving paperwork.
Schedule orders for delivery with the dispatcher and/or the Distribution Center.
Provide accurate customer information to the accounting department.
Obtain manager approval on pricing issues with customers.
Process customer product returns and credits.
Provide prospective customer support to Territory Managers.
Process back orders.
Assist in inventory control, run inventory reports and compare inventory reports to invoices.
Work with warehouse management to determine inventory discrepancies.
Coordinate special orders through the purchasing department.
Coordinate intercompany transfers with the Distribution Center.
Organize the showroom literature, samples and displays.
Participate in frequent training on products, sales techniques, and other job‑related topics.
Maintain customer files including staple, collate and file paperwork.
Provide support to the warehouse and delivery staff, as needed.
This position requires minimal travel to training events, customer events, and trade shows, as needed.
Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Customer Service & Technology Interaction
Provide personalized customer service through direct in‑person and phone conversations.
Communicate with managers, other employees, customers and vendors.
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor in all interactions, both in‑person and electronically through technology mediums.
Handle customer feedback and complaints efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2 years of related work experience and/or training in sales; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid driver’s license is preferred.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills are required.
Knowledge of building materials product is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as job specifications and product manuals.
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Strong basic math skills which include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Basic skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook computer programs or the ability to learn them.
Experience working with an ERP system or the ability to learn an automated ERP system.
