Summary Safety Consultant for Office of Facilities and Property Management (OFPM). Develops strategy to ensure NIST Environmental Health & Safety compliance. Provides expert advice to management on occupational health regulations. Leads accident investigations, reviews safety plans, and conducts workplace inspections. Manages construction permits, drinking water programs, and agency training. Learn more about this agency Duties Help In this position, you will:
Inspect & Support: Conduct complex hazard inspections and assist personnel with risk abatement. Review & Approve: Evaluate construction safety plans and job hazard analyses for compliance. Analyze & Advise: Track data trends to identify gaps and counsel leadership on improvements. Train & Manage: Execute safety training programs, manage internal initiatives, and oversee contracts. Requirements Help Conditions of employment U.S. citizenship Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment Merit applicants must meet time-in-grade/band requirements, as applicable Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination Must have a US drivers license Must complete FAC-COR Level 1 certification within first year of employment Bargaining Unit Position: No Qualifications Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 (ZA-II at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as:Experience in reviewing and applying occupational safety and health (OSH) federal regulations, agency policies, and workplace practices as they apply to maintenance/operations and construction activities; to include managing workplace injury process, hazardous materials databases, and reviewing safety plans. Experience conducting workplace OSH investigations, annual inspections, and communicating the information to management. Experience coordinating and developing safety training. In addition to the required specialized experience; all applicants must have a valid U.S. drivers license. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
