Job Description
One of the largest investment firms in the nation is looking for a hands-on Sr. Database Administration with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and solid experience with PostgreSQL. This role combines technical leadership and execution, focusing on performance optimization, scalability, and reliability of large-scale data environments (2+billion records). This person would need to work 7 days in the Los Angeles office a month. Key Responsibilities Lead design, administration, and optimization of enterprise database systems Manage large-scale datasets, ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability Troubleshoot complex database issues and implement performance tuning strategies Partner with engineering, DevOps, and business teams to deliver scalable data solutions Oversee database architecture, including indexing, partitioning, and data lifecycle management Implement and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions Drive automation of database operations using scripting and tooling Support audits, compliance needs, and data governance initiatives Manage vendors and third-party database technologies as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field 10+ years of database administration experience, including 8+ years with SQL Server Strong PostgreSQL administration and optimization experience Proven success working with very large datasets (billions of records) Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and database internals Experience with high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On, replication, log shipping) Proficiency in scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, or Bash) Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS RDS, or Aurora Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Experience in regulated industries and relevant certifications are a plus Company Description We specialize in staffing exceptional Professionals to industry leading companies in the US and abroad.
