As a Psychotherapist working with patients recovering from traumatic injuries—such as strokes or amputations—you’ll play a key role in helping them and their families navigate life after significant change. This is a rehabilitation psychology focused position on the acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. Your focus will be assessment and treatment of grief, mood, and cognitive functioning of patients following significant neurological and/or functional change. Education Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support patients and their families in adjusting to life after a traumatic injury (e.g., stroke, amputation), helping them adapt to a new level of independence and daily functioning.
  • Conduct cognitive assessments focused on memory, attention, problem-solving, and executive functioning.
  • Implement individualized cognitive rehabilitation plans to improve functional thinking and promote independence.
  • Perform cognitive remediation—assessing functional application of thinking processes and identifying strategies for improvement.
  • Administer standardized assessments as required by Medicare, including the PHQ, BIMS, and CAM at both admission and discharge.
  • Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient well-being, promote emotional adjustment, provide family support, and facilitate patient engagement in the rehabilitation process.
  • Expand your impact by cross-training in the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), helping bridge care between physical rehabilitation and mental health support.

Schedule: This is a casual role, or PRN/as-needed. Hours of operation are generally Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm. Monthly Saturday rotation required.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
  • No certification or licensure requirements

Training will be provided; specific experience in rehabilitation psychology or a hospital setting is not required.

Job Location: Building D - Miller Dwan Medical Center - EH Duluth
Shift Rotation: Day Rotation (United States of America)
Shift Start/End: 0800 (8:00am)/1630 (4:30pm)
Hours Per Pay Period: Varies based on open shifts
Compensation Range: $30.14 - $45.21 / hour
FTE: 0
Weekends: Rotation 1x/month
