CareScout Job Description: Director, Lead Product Designer
About CareScout: Join us on a mission to simplify and dignify the aging experience. We are the children, siblings, neighbors, and friends of those navigating the fragmented and confusing system of long‑term care. Our team is ferociously curious and relentless in our pursuit of a better system – and we are deeply committed to a sense of belonging for all, in all phases of life. We’re creating a new experience for care seekers and their families, bringing together long‑term care options, non‑healthcare resources, education, and human support into one place. We work hard, we have fun, we care about each other, and we share the mission. If this sounds like a place where you could thrive, join us! About The Job: We are looking for a talented and experienced Lead Product Designer to join our digital startup CareScout. As the Lead Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing and owning the design system, building Figma components, templates, modules, and prototypes based on the digital brand guidelines. You will collaborate with our UX and Development teams to create an intuitive, cohesive, and visually appealing digital product, ensuring consistency and accuracy of the design system across all platforms. Key to this role is the ability to deliver plug‑and‑play front‑end design code (e.g., micro‑interactions such as button styles, hovers and states, responsive behavior across screen resolutions, and simple animations). You will help all design teams at CareScout create world‑class consumer‑facing digital products by enabling agile and responsive iteration through a kit of parts that make up the CareScout experience digitally. The goal of the Design Systems Lead is to maintain a high level of quality control for all design works produced and to provide guidance and mentorship to other designers, copywriters and CareScout team members involved in conceiving and developing future iterations of the platform. Necessary Qualifications
Strong experience in design systems for digital products. Deep understanding and passion for the key principles of great interaction design. Visual design sensitivity and taste – typography, layout, color theory and micro‑animation. Strong expertise in Figma, able to build components, variants, templates, and modules from scratch that scale across the CareScout platform. Experience working with digital brand guidelines. Grasp of written English and ability to write microcopy for key interactions. Understanding of the opportunities and limitations of working on a responsive web‑based platform versus native app‑based design. Front‑end coding experience, including HTML, CSS, and familiarity with React, to deliver visual designs straight into development teams. Front‑end development experience including JavaScript, SPAs (React/Next.js or Angular), HTML, and CSS. Background working with software developers/engineers and Agile Web Development Teams. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. Experience leading a team of designers is a plus. Diverse Perspectives
We know that innovation thrives on product teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems. As such, we explicitly seek people who bring diverse life experiences, educational backgrounds, cultures, and work experiences. Please be prepared to share how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our product teams. Benefits
