Sterile Processing Technician The Sterile Processing Technician in the Central Processing Unit is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that all equipment meets the required safety and quality standards for surgical procedures. Responsibilities
Perform decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment. Assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilization. Ensure proper sterilization protocols are followed using steam sterilization and other methods. Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes and outcomes. Collaborate with surgical staff to meet equipment needs and ensure seamless operations.
Required Experience / Certifications
Minimum of 3 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience. Experience in a Trauma Level I facility is required. National certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM is mandatory. BLS certification is required. Experience with robotic instruments and high-level disinfection is preferred.
