I help companies optimize their Talent, Teams and Technology ABOUT THE ROLE
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a talented Senior Energy Analyst (Clean Energy, Electric, Power, Sustainable Transportation) who is experienced in problem‑solving, research, and policy analysis. You will be producing the research and analysis used to advance clean energy policies and initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you should be fluent in clean energy (electric) and urban sustainability issues, have strong analytical (both quantitative and qualitative) skills and knowledge about clean energy issues (technology, policy, and finance).
What does this job call for?
This position requires the ability to effectively communicate original analytical findings and nuanced policy ideas to a client base that includes government agencies at the municipal and state levels, the non‑profit sector, renewable energy developers, clean energy service providers, and energy companies.
Are you a good fit?
If you are a climate nerd following clean energy and power distribution (electrical) news daily, you may be a good fit. Better yet, if you have a history of building quantitative models to provide data‑backed insights into policy decisions, you may be a great fit. Finally, if you also have experience designing or implementing clean energy policies and programs, you may be perfect for this job.
Key Expertise Areas
Knowledge of Power Systems (electrical, sustainable transportation)
Experience with electricity capacity expansion and/or dispatch models
Conduct analysis and modeling of clean energy and climate policies at state, regional, and national levels
Knowledge of climate and energy policy (especially buildings and transportation)
Expert in Public Policy Analysis
Design policy scenarios with input from GLA staff and external partners
Prepare reports, fact sheets, and presentations based on research results
Ability to conduct socioeconomic analysis
Quantify jobs, public health, energy burden, and equity impacts
Expert witness testimony
Ability to work in a project‑based environment
Primary Responsibilities
Develop, refine, and maintain quantitative models to assess energy efficiency and renewable energy impacts by sector (residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation)
Identify, collect, and synthesize energy data from diverse public and proprietary sources to build credible baselines, benchmarks, and long‑term sector forecasts
Evaluate and construct energy‑use forecasts for cities, states, utilities, and other partners, incorporating technology, policy, and market trends
Design data‑driven clean‑energy, decarbonization, and equity‑focused policies and programs, providing actionable recommendations for government, utility, and community stakeholders
Author high‑quality research reports, policy briefs, and analytical deliverables that translate complex insights into clear, compelling narratives
Engage directly with partners—delivering presentations, facilitating discussions, and collaborating across internal and external workstreams to support project goals
Contribute to team strategy and thought leadership, helping advance best practices in modeling, policy design, and equity‑centered clean‑energy analysis
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of energy markets, especially electricity policy and regulatory issues
Exceptional quantitative analysis ability and experience creating forecasts using assumptions from primary research and existing databases
Demonstrated proficiency with advanced Excel functions, databases, word processing, slide presentation software, and data visualization tools (preferably Tableau); outstanding problem‑solving skills, resourceful and skillful in secondary research, information discovery, and data aggregation
Bachelor’s Degree in public policy, economics, engineering, science or related fields and 4+ years of experience as a consultant/analyst in the clean energy field, OR advanced degree and 2+ years’ experience
Strong interest and/or experience in one or more of the following areas of energy supply and demand: energy efficiency, renewable energy, residential and commercial building energy use, distributed generation, electric vehicles, utility resource planning, and clean transportation
