Why This Role Matters As a Closing Team Lead, you will oversee the daily performance and workflow of the Closing team, ensuring loans close accurately, compliantly, and on schedule. Your leadership will directly influence operational efficiency, regulatory adherence, and the overall borrower experience. By mentoring closers, managing pipeline activity, and resolving escalations, you will play a critical role in maintaining closing excellence across the organization.
Responsibilities
Assign closing files to closers and coordinate scheduling with clients and settlement agents
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex issues involving closers, borrowers, or third parties
Train and mentor closing team members on procedures, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Act as a subject matter expert for closing processes, supporting closers, agents, and internal partners
Ensure Closing Disclosures (CDs) are issued at least three business days prior to closing in compliance with CFPB/TRID requirements
Confirm closing packages are released to settlement agents after required CD acknowledgments
Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and investor closing regulations and industry standards
Monitor daily pipeline activity, productivity, and team performance, providing updates to leadership
Support implementation of new processes, policies, and workflow enhancements
Manage team scheduling, attendance tracking, and workload distribution
Utilize the loan origination system to review file status, complete tasks, and support team system usage
Communicate proactively with borrowers, title companies, and settlement agents to ensure smooth closings
Assist with closing packages and operational tasks as needed to maintain service level
What You Bring
5+ years of mortgage closing experience with strong knowledge of TRID and CFPB regulations
Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring or supervising closing or operations teams
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain pipeline accuracy in a fast‑paced environment
Proficiency with loan origination systems and mortgage closing software
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
A proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with a commitment to operational excellence

Reviewing the closing pipeline and distributing files to team members
Supporting escalations and resolving complex closing issues
Coaching closers on compliance requirements or process questions
Coordinating with title companies, settlement agents, and internal partners
Monitoring productivity metrics and reporting updates to leadership
