The Napster App is the consumer face of this platform. iOS, Android, and Web. It’s where people create music with AI producers in real time, get coached by wellness experts, learn languages, explore interactive audiobooks, and build things they couldn’t build alone. It launched in late 2025, replacing the old music streaming app entirely. No more licensed catalogs. No more playlists. This is a completely new product.
We need someone to own it.
WHAT THIS ROLE EXISTS TO DO Ship the product that proves AI companions belong on everyone’s phone.
You’ll own the Napster App roadmap end to end. What gets built, what gets cut, what ships this week. You’ll work directly with engineering, design, and AI/ML. You’ll coordinate with platform and infrastructure teams across the company to ensure the app leverages the latest capabilities. You’ll define what success looks like and hold the team to it.
This is not a role where you inherit a mature product and optimize conversion funnels. The Napster App is early. The category is new. Some of our former streaming subscribers are upset we killed their playlists. New users don’t have a mental model for what this product is yet. You need to be the person who figures that out and ships accordingly.
If you want to manage a backlog someone else defined, this isn’t it. If you want to define what a new category of consumer AI looks like, keep reading.
WHAT YOU’LL DO Own the roadmap
— You decide what the Napster App builds next. Music creation with genre‑specific AI Companions. Agent feeds where Companions share work even when you’re not talking to them (this is live today — our chief of staff, Jane, already generates content autonomously). Crew orchestration through Kai. Cross‑domain expansion into wellness, education, business. You set the priorities. You make the trade‑offs. You ship.
Move at our speed
— One day here feels like one month. Development cycles are measured in days, not quarters. If you need three rounds of stakeholder alignment before writing a spec, you’ll drown. If you default to done and iterate in public, you’ll thrive.
Go deep on AI
— This isn’t a product where AI is a feature. AI is the product. You need to understand foundation models (GPT, Gemini, Claude), real‑time audio generation, video synthesis, agent orchestration, and persistent memory — not as buzzwords, but as engineering trade‑offs you make weekly. You should be building with these tools, not just using them. We expect you to have opinions about when to vibe‑code something in Lovable, when to fork a GitHub repo, and when to build from scratch.
Navigate the transition
— Some users loved the old Napster. They built playlists over years. They’re frustrated. You need to acknowledge that reality without letting it anchor the product in the past. The job is to build forward — to find the users who want AI‑powered creation and make the product irresistible to them.
Define and track what matters
— Active creation rates. Crew engagement (how many Companions per user per week). Return sessions. Cross‑platform sync usage. Time spent in 30+ minute conversations. Credit consumption and conversion from free to paid tiers. You define the metrics, you instrument them, you hold the team accountable.
Design for sharing
— The artifact people share isn’t always the one you’d expect. Sometimes it’s not the song — it’s the cover art with their face in it. The song gets saved. The cover gets posted. You need to think like that — designing for the moments that drive organic growth, not the moments that feel important on a roadmap slide.
REQUIREMENTS 5+ years in product management, at least 2 on consumer mobile (iOS/Android).
But if you have 3 years and have shipped more than people with 10, we want to talk.
Production‑level AI fluency.
Not "I read about AI" and not just "I use Claude daily." You’ve built working products with AI tools — using Claude Code, Cursor, or similar environments to ship things to real users. You can explain what changed in the last three months. You have opinions about which models are better for what. You understand MCP, agent orchestration patterns, and the difference between a demo and a product. Show us something you built in the last 90 days.
Ships fast in ambiguity.
You’ve worked in environments where the playbook didn’t exist and you wrote it while executing. Startups, scale‑ups, or fast‑moving teams inside larger companies. You’re comfortable making decisions with 60% of the information.
Technical enough to be dangerous.
You can hold a real conversation about APIs, WebRTC, streaming architectures, prompt engineering, and model orchestration. You don’t need to write the code, but you need to understand the constraints.
Strong product vision you can actually articulate.
You’ve driven product direction through influence, not org chart authority. You can write a clear spec, present a compelling strategy, and defend hard trade‑offs without hiding behind jargon.
Experience with AI‑native products (not just "we added an AI feature")
Background in music tech, creator tools, or social platforms
Experience managing credit‑based or usage‑based monetization
Familiarity with video AI, voice synthesis, or avatar technology
Having navigated a major product pivot where the existing user base was attached to the old thing
A genuine obsession with what AI makes possible that shows up outside of work
WHY THIS ROLE Few PM roles offer this combination:
A brand everyone knows.
Napster is a name that opens conversations. The "democratized music, now democratizing expertise" story lands everywhere — with users, press, partners, investors.
A product early enough to define.
Your decisions will shape what the Napster App becomes. This isn’t optimization. This is creation.
A platform with real depth.
You’re not building a standalone app. You’re building the consumer surface of a platform that includes enterprise products (Spaces), an education vertical (Learn), a developer API, and purpose‑built hardware (View, Station). The technical ambition is real.
Partners that matter.
Microsoft (Azure Marketplace, Managed Partner). Google Cloud. Enterprise customers already paying. This isn’t a pitch deck — it’s shipping.
HOW WE WORK We’re a distributed team across the US, Europe, and Israel. Most of what you need to know about our culture shows up in how we operate, not in a values poster.
We build in the open.
Specs are short. Prototypes ship before they’re polished. If something is wrong, we’d rather find out from a real user this week than from a stakeholder review next month. The instinct here is to make the thing, show the thing, and fix the thing — in that order.
AI isn’t a department. It’s how we work.
Our CTO builds product prototypes with Claude Code and demos them in standup. Our product team vibe‑codes internal tools. Our companions generate content autonomously. If you’re not using AI to do your own job faster, you’ll feel the gap.
Speed is a value, not a slogan.
We’ve shipped entire product capabilities in a week. We’ve also killed things that took a month to build because the signal said stop. The pace is demanding. The trade‑off is that you’ll ship more in a quarter here than most PMs ship in a year.
We argue, then commit.
Disagreement is welcome. Prolonged alignment cycles are not. Once a decision is made, we move. If you’re the kind of person who can disagree in a meeting, commit by the end of it, and execute the next morning, you’ll fit.
Small team, real ownership.
There’s no layer of middle management between you and the work. You’ll talk to the CPO, the CTO, and the engineers building the features. Your decisions will be visible by Friday.
Napster Corp embraces a diversity of backgrounds and experiences and provides equal opportunity for all applicants and employees. We strive to build a company that reflects a global audience.
The base salary for this position is $120,000 - $130,000. Base pay will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, including education, certifications, experience, market demand, and location.
