Über

The Electrical Detailer works closely with the Trade Specialist, Modelers, BIM Technicians & Operations team during both the preconstruction & construction phases of Design-Build, Design Assist or Hard Bid projects. This position's main responsibilities are to establish means & methods for installation and to generate all documents required for kitting, prefabrication, and installation. Additionally, the Detailer provides support to both Foremen and Project Managers to accomplish both internal and external goals.
Remote Position Fully remote position – no onsite work required.
Pay Range $65,000.00/yr – $125,000.00/yr (DOE)
Responsibilities
Supports the designer by developing and providing details, means and methods, sizing, code compliance on design build, design assist and integrated projects for permit submittal
Identifies construction requirements for projects based on estimate, scope, contract, page turn and specifications
Applies detailing and prefabrication strategies to a design during the virtual construction process and translates those strategies to the project team at the project start-up through the virtual construction scope
Identifies manufacturing opportunities for each project
Creates and documents value engineering solutions, which include identifying various design solutions and quantifying specific cost elements that are affected
Keeps Electrical Trade Specialist abreast of changes and modifications that are made during the process that are communicated through the Project Manager
Compiles information/documentation from all internal project meetings, such as construction schedule, BIM/preconstruction schedule, work orders and kitting opportunities and works with the Project Manager and Foreman to get deliverables and due dates
Provides support to field personnel before and during the construction process. Translates the design intent to the field through one-on-one sit-down explaining installation drawings that incorporate assemblies, details, materials, and estimated hours for the projects
Completes "feedback loop" through periodic contact to the field to assist in ongoing coordination and QC from start to finish of the project
Maintains clear communication between VC, Manufacturing, Operations and the field teams
Provides input to Trade Specialist to establish means & methods for electrical assemblies, prefabrication, kitting & installation practices
Works with the Trade Specialist to establish means & methods for assemblies, prefabrication, kitting & installation practices
Identifies BIM scope of work for each project and works with the Operations team to procure all necessary design and trade partner Cad/Revit files to be used for coordination
Keeps Trade Specialist abreast of changes to original VDC scope throughout the process
Creates and maintains project folders for all VC deliverables
Generates all VC deliverables including assembly drawings for manufacturing, field installation drawings & details, BOM's and kit of parts
Works with BIM Modeler to ensure electrical model is accurate and constructable and that it meets code, spec and design intent
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years experience in the electrical trade for commercial/industrial construction
Must be technologically savvy and open to learning and adapting new software and technologies
Journeyman level knowledge of trade specific codes and general knowledge of all building codes
Proficient in cross-referencing plans across all trades
Able to review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and product submittals
Basic computer skills, Microsoft, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam
Excellent communication, collaboration, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment while working with and supervising large teams
Experienced in designing and/or detailing electrical projects
Bonus Skills (Non-required)
Advanced computer skills
Experience with 3D design & collaboration software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc.)
Experience with cloud-based platforms (Procore, Sharepoint, Revizto, ACC, Box, etc.)
Experience with task and workflow management tools (Trello, MS Planner, vPlanner, Monday, etc.)
Experience in BIM/VDC workflows
Experience with industrialized construction and offsite manufacturing
