Position Description: The Junior Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Test Engineer assesses software quality through both manual and automated testing and works with developers, end users, and organizations to create test plans and test scripts. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Responsibilities
Reviews and analyzes system specifications
Collaborates with Business Analysts, Test Engineers and Test Planners/Managers to develop effective test strategies, test plans, and procedures
Executes manual and automated test cases and analyzes results
Evaluates product code according to specifications
Creates logs to document testing phases and defects and confirms that requirements are verified and validated
Reports bugs and errors to development teams
Helps troubleshoot issues
Conducts post-release/post-implementation testing
Works with cross-functional teams and ensures quality throughout the software development lifecycle
Configures necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing
Manages the defect database and/or logs
Compensation & Benefits Annual projected pay range: $63,233.11 - $70,259.01, with consideration given to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.

General Physical Requirements
Assignment Location - Remote
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Typing, communicating, repetitive motions.
Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.
Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.
Minimum Qualification Minimum/General Experience: 2 years of manual and automation software testing experience.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Experience developing and executing manual and automated test scripts
Experience building test plans
Experience with the Agile methodology and sprint-based testing cycles
Experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira)
Experience creating and maintaining detailed test documentation and reports
Experience with Selenium Test
Experience working with developers and other members of a software development team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail skills
Experience supporting a federal government department (preferred)
Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (preferred)
