Our client in South Seattle area is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of production across manufacturing operations. This high-impact leadership role will be responsible for approximately 100 employees with 5 direct report managers. and will ensure that safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency targets are consistently met.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep manufacturing experience, strong people-management skills, and a proven ability to drive operational performance and continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and Manage Production Operations
- Oversee daily manufacturing activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to production targets.
Supervise and Develop Management Team
- Direct and mentor 5 production managers; ensure consistent leadership, communication, and performance across all shifts.
Optimize Workforce Performance
- Provide leadership to ~100 employees, promoting productivity, safety, and engagement.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to reduce waste, improve processes, and increase throughput.
Ensure Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with industry standards.
Production Planning & Resource Allocation
- Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and equipment usage to meet customer demand and operational goals.
Quality Assurance Oversight
- Partner with QA to ensure all products meet required specifications and uphold customer satisfaction.
Budget & Cost Control
- Manage production budgets, monitor operational costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and HR to support smooth production flow.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Track KPIs (output, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency), produce regular reports, and communicate results to executive leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, including 3-5 years in leadership.
- Experience managing large teams (50+ employees) in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, workflow optimization, and KPI-driven operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues, drive improvements, and manage change.
