Job Summary:
The Web Developer supports the implementation and ongoing improvement of the organization’s digital accessibility efforts across websites and web applications. This role is responsible for conducting accessibility audits, remediating issues, and ensuring compliance with established standards. Acting as a hands-on technical resource, this individual works closely with development teams, stakeholders, and vendors to integrate accessibility into the development lifecycle and maintain high-quality, inclusive digital experiences for the public.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Conduct accessibility audits of websites and web applications to ensure compliance with established standards.
· Identify, document, and remediate accessibility issues across digital properties, including websites and documents.
· Collaborate with internal development teams and external vendors to implement accessibility fixes and improvements.
· Provide guidance on accessible coding practices, including HTML structure, ARIA implementation, keyboard navigation, and color contrast.
· Integrate automated and manual accessibility testing into development and deployment workflows, including CI/CD pipelines.
· Establish and support accessibility validation processes to prevent regressions and maintain compliance.
· Review vendor deliverables for accessibility compliance and provide recommendations as needed.
· Support the development and enhancement of internal accessibility tools and processes.
· Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accessibility standards are consistently applied across digital initiatives.
· Educate and support teams in adopting accessible design and development practices.

· Stay up to date on computer skills and best practices, such as word processing software, spreadsheet software, presentation software, Adobe software, email management, digital calendars, and video conferencing.

Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
· Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university
· 3+ years of professional experience in web accessibility testing, auditing, and remediation within enterprise environments
· Strong knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA, Section 508, and ADA requirements
· Proficiency in front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) with the ability to evaluate and recommend code-level accessibility improvements
· Hands-on experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, pa11y) and assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA)
· Experience integrating accessibility testing into development workflows, including automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
Preferred:
· Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
· Experience with CI/CD integration and accessibility issue tracking
· Relevant accessibility certifications (e.g., IAAP WAS or equivalent)
· Knowledge of inclusive design principles
