We are excited to be recruiting for the next important piece of our history and new talent, a Senior Network Engineer! The Senior Network Engineer position is responsible for maintaining and securing the organization’s network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs. This position will also occasionally support Audio/Visual engineering by designing, integrating, and maintaining the networking requirements for conference room systems, collaboration tools, and A/V over IP solutions.
The responsibilities of this role may include:
Network Operations & Maintenance
Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
Monitor network performance (bandwidth, latency, uptime) and optimize as needed
Ensure network services (Intranet, Internet, DNS, DHCP, wireless) are running securely and efficiently
Access Control & Security
Manage user access through network systems utilizing Microsoft Entra as the idp
Apply the principle of least privilege to network resources
Configure and monitor firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions
Enforce network segmentation
Implement and maintain VPNs, TLS, and other encryption technologies
Monitoring & Incident Response
Monitor logs for anomalies using SIEM or log management tools
Respond to network outages, security alerts, and incidents
Support forensic investigations with log retrieval and network traffic analysis
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain network diagrams and data flow maps for systems handling CUI
Document firewall rules, access controls, and configuration baselines
Support compliance efforts (CMMC, NIST 800-171, DFARS, etc.) by providing evidence of controls
Conduct periodic access and privilege reviews
System Updates & Patching
Apply patches, firmware updates, and configuration changes in accordance with change control
Track vendor advisories and update systems to mitigate vulnerabilities
Backup & Recovery
Ensure network device configurations are backed up securely
Support disaster recovery planning and testing User & Technical Support
Provide tier-2/3 support for connectivity issues
Assist users with secure remote access (VPN, MFA)
Planning & Engineering
Recommend and implement network upgrades
Participate in system architecture design, ensuring security by design
Research and evaluate new network technologies
Additional Duties as needed (A/V Engineering Focus) approx. 15% of time (If selected we will train the chosen candidate):
Design, configure, and maintain A/V network infrastructure, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity for video conferencing and collaboration systems.
Support A/V system integration
Perform network switch configurations to support DANTE, AVB, AES 67, and AV over IP · Interpret network switch logs and troubleshoot irregular network traffic, and troubleshoot all network issues
Consults with engineering personnel and manufacturers to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance
Reads and studies blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine what installation techniques to use
Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing network knowledge and experience
Converses with customer and Senior Engineer to plan layout and configuration of network equipment
Lead the design and architecture of the client’s wired and wireless network as it relates to the project scope, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security
Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must possess the following:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in network administration or support
A Bachelor's degree in STEM, computer science, IT or a related field OR
An Associate’s degree in STEM, computer science, IT or a related field, such as engineering plus an additional 5 additional years of experience
Must possess the ability to travel upwards of 15% of the time to job sites and other company building locations as needed
Preferred Experience/Certifications:
Experience managing networks in compliance-driven environments (CMMC, NIST 800-171, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.)
CompTIA Security+
CompTIA Network+
Cisco CCNA / CCNP
Microsoft Certified: Azure Network

Pay Range
$125,000 - $165,000 per year
The above pay range represents a general guideline; however, AV3, Inc. considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
