Description Our customer, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), provides, operates, and assures command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers, the department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position directly supports the DISA-provided capabilities and services.
The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector/Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) contract has an opening for an Implementations Network Engineer at Ford Island, HI . The Implementations Network Engineer will perform installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, servicing of network equipment and activation of networks for projects supporting the Department of Defense networks.
U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance are required to start.
Primary Responsibilities
Customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execution of reporting functions, and complete data input associated with new service activations to ensure compliance with DISA standards.
Work directly with customers, solution architects and vendor SMEs to implement changes and identify, analyze, and resolve issues.
Manage Service Orders in accordance with Change Management procedures.
Ensure Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) are in place and accurate for scheduled network additions and changes.
Initiate network device configurations using configlets.
Analyze DISN and databases to validate and implement customer requirements.
Design and implement solutions to highly technical problems through testing, documentation and modification of configurations on network devices.
Coordinate and program customer circuit activation with commercial vendors to establish the engineered solution for end‑to‑end connectivity.
Perform network monitoring to assess the impact of deployed changes on customer traffic using provided expectations of traffic behavior, lessons learned, and customer reporting.
Utilize systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional requirements in support of customer resources.
Engage with DISA project managers and/or customers to resolve issues with incomplete or unclear requirements.
Reach out to stakeholders and facilitate approvals as necessary to ensure continual forward progress of the service request.
Basic Qualifications
Proficient knowledge of various network hardware equipment specifications, configuration and testing processes, and industry specifications.
Knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
Experience with network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
Understanding of basic telecommunications and IT terms and technology.
Knowledge of data and voice network design across various transmission systems, router-to-router connections using military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS, switch‑to‑switch trunking including VLANs, and circuit configurations through multiplexers.
Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (routers, load balancers, DNS servers, firewalls).
Ability to work in a team environment while being self‑driven to complete assignments and continually develop process proficiencies.
Strong written and verbal communication, team‑building and collaboration skills.
An active Secret security clearance is required.
DoD‑8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience at DISA or knowledge of DISA systems and processes.
Prior experience with SharePoint data entry.
Experience performing customer outreach.
Experience with DISA Request Fulfillment process and associated documents (TSRs, TSOs, completion reports) and circulars.
Basic understanding of the Department of Defense and its policies and hierarchy.
Basic understanding of DISA organizational structure and how different elements (DITCO, etc.) contribute to fulfilling mission partner TSR requirements.
Network certifications: Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, etc.), Microsoft (MCSE, etc.), security certifications (Security+ CE, CISSP, etc.), ITIL certification.
Required Education and Experience
Requires a BS with 4–8 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 2–6 years of prior relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
