*Niti Systems* is seeking a Communications Engineer to support the design and development of a large-scale federal infrastructure and security project. This is a 10-month contract position based in McLean, VA. The engineer will work closely with senior engineering staff to assist with communications system design, fiber optic networks, video surveillance systems, and associated network integration.
*Responsibilities*
* Assist in the design of fiber optic communications networks and network infrastructure
* Support IP-based video surveillance system design, including cameras, sensors, and shelter connectivity
* Develop network diagrams, layouts, and technical documentation
* Assist in preparation of design packages through 90%, 100%, and Issued-for-Construction (IFC) milestones
* Coordinate communications requirements with other engineering disciplines
* Support equipment submittal reviews and technical clarifications
* Participate in design reviews and team meetings, providing technical input under senior engineer guidance
*Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or related technical discipline
* 3–5 years of experience in communications, telecommunications, or network engineering
* Experience with fiber optic systems, outside plant (OSP) infrastructure preferred
* Basic understanding of IP networking principles and network architecture
* Exposure to video surveillance or physical security systems (CCTV, IP cameras)
* Ability to develop technical documentation and support engineering drawings
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Experience supporting infrastructure or security projects
* Familiarity with ONVIF, RTSP, or IP video protocols
* AutoCAD or similar design software experience
* Cisco networking experience or industry certifications (BICSI, CCNA, CCNP)
* Interest in learning federal or DoD security project requirements
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and able to satisfy project-specific background screening requirements.
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
