Radiologist Position The Radiologist will be responsible for providing interpretation of radiology examinations and procedures as required by the VA, for both the outpatient and inpatient settings at the Fayetteville, NC VAMC system. He/she is to ensure the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with the standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program. He/she is to ensure appropriate use of the available resources and will be responsible for the state-of-the-art standards of care in Imaging Service. He/she collaborates with other services as appropriate. The Incumbent shall provide professional (physician) guidance for all necessary imaging services. More than 100,000 examinations are performed annually, including a customary mix of Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (general and vascular), Radiography and Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, minor Interventional procedures, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine and possible Mammography exams. The Incumbent shall provide reading, interpretation, and submission of radiology reports as required by the VA, with supplemental support from on-site or remote teleradiology services. VA patients will undergo emergent and routine CT and diagnostic x-rays on a 24-hour basis at the Ramsey Street location and until 4:30 pm at the Raeford Road location, including weekends and holidays. MRI exams will be performed from 8:00 am until midnight at the Ramsey Street location and until 4:30 pm at the Raeford Road location on Monday through Friday. Mammography (Raeford Road) and Nuclear Medicine (Ramsey Street) studies will be performed until 4:30 pm on Monday through Friday. Patients requiring radiologist supervision will be scheduled during the administrative hours of the Medical Center. -Incumbent shall provide routine and emergent radiology services to all VA patients referred by the VA regardless of diagnosis, race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, and place of residence.
Incumbent shall provide all necessary consultative imaging services, including preprocedural evaluations, informed consent, assessment, and documentation of findings and follow-up notes. The Incumbent must be available for consultation to Medical Center physicians for all cases performed. It will be the responsibility of the incumbent to ensure imaging reports are dictated into the VA Computerized Patient Recordkeeping System (CPRS). All reports must be dictated and verified within 48 hours of the study, excluding weekends and holidays. Stat reports must be verified within one (1) hour of test completion, during normal business hours. The Incumbent shall keep all information concerning VA beneficiaries confidential. Information will not be disclosed to any person, except as authorized in writing and according to all applicable laws.
The Radiologist is responsible to the Chief, Imaging Service for his/her work. Administrative direction is provided in terms of broadly defined goals and missions and in conjunction with the Chief, Imaging Service. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
