At Oakham Shires School, we're looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational educator to join our growing team. This is far more than a teaching role—it's an opportunity to transform the lives of autistic young people and those with additional needs by helping them discover the wonders of science in a way that is engaging, meaningful and accessible.
You'll have the freedom to teach creatively, think differently and tailor your lessons to meet the individual needs of every pupil, all within a supportive specialist setting where relationships, wellbeing and achievement come first.
If you're ready to inspire confidence, nurture curiosity and celebrate every success, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
Deliver engaging, creative and differentiated Science lessons that inspire curiosity and a love of learning.
Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of autistic pupils and those with additional learning needs, ensuring every learner can succeed.
Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using assessment to inform outstanding teaching and learning.
Help shape and develop an innovative Science curriculum that prepares pupils for future success.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and families to provide a consistent, pupil-centred approach.
Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom where pupils feel confident to explore, experiment and achieve.
Promote pupils' personal development, independence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
Contribute to whole-school improvement, helping drive outstanding outcomes for every young person.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
Holds a Degree and UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Passionate about bringing Science to life and inspiring young people to achieve their potential.
Experienced in, or enthusiastic about, working with autistic pupils and those with SEND or complex needs.
Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to meet individual needs.
An excellent communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
Calm, resilient and solution-focused, with a positive approach to overcoming challenges.
Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and delivering exceptional outcomes for every learner.
Eager to continue developing professionally within a supportive and forward-thinking school.
Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
