Position Type: Teaching Assistant/Teacher Assistant Date Posted: 6/26/2026 Location: Northwest Elementary School COWETA PUBLIC SCHOOLS 2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY The following position is open for application at this time and will remain open until filled: Health Aide at Northwest Elementary School SUMMARY: Provide support and assistance with the efficient operation of the health offices in the district and support district nurses, teachers, administration, and students with basic first-aid needs, and perform accurate record keeping and reporting. The Health Aide will work under the direct supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse, Lead Nurse, and site principal.
CONTRACT: 175 days, 7 hours per day. Contracted days will be pro-rated to remaining contracted days for the current school year. BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and other policies available. This position is eligible to participate in Oklahoma Teachers Retirement. Responsibilities
Effectively manages flow of clinic/office by receiving students and determining reason for visit and assistance needed Assists nurse in the provision of basic care Administers medications and treatments as directed by a licensed physician and district policies and procedures Performs basic first aid procedures Performs diabetic care for students under the direction of a school nurse. Maintains accurate medical records, logs and reports Check immunization records and assist the nurse in achieving immunization compliance Assists with annual health screens for vision, hearing, blood pressure and other screenings Prepares and updates confidential medical lists for teachers and field trip medical lists for teachers in case of emergency Orders supplies and maintains clinic stock Sanitizes and maintains equipment Contacts parents to disseminate student medical information Stays abreast of and adheres to all federal, state and district regulations CPR certification required Travel between school sites, as needed May perform additional duties as assigned
