The Applications Administrator reports to the Business Applications Manager and assists in the management of our proprietary software, providing technical support and user administration for our industry‑leading in‑house platforms. This hybrid role is based in San Diego, CA. Responsibilities and Duties Lead the setup, onboarding, and quality assurance of photovoltaic (PV) solar site builds within our proprietary software in collaboration with engineering, jobsite project teams, and third‑party vendors. Administer and maintain user access and removal requests, managing permissions based on user roles and responsibilities. Collaborate with the development team to quality‑assure all new iPad and mobile application builds before deployment through Mobile Device Management (MDM), documenting details for deployment. Provide technical support via voice, email, ticketing systems, Teams, or other communication methods, including troubleshooting and recreating user errors and tracking issues in a ticketing system. Lead root‑cause analysis for mobile device errors and application crashes, resolving issues independently or escalating to development with detailed documentation such as photos or videos. Assist in the development and maintenance of application knowledge bases, FAQs, and documentation, and provide demonstrations or tutorials as required. Assist project teams and management with data extraction and report generation. Participate in platform improvement and development scoping exercises as a subject‑matter expert, focusing on voice‑of‑customer feedback. Communicate new features or enhancements through bi‑weekly calls or preferred contact methods, delivering notifications to all jobsites and field technicians to coordinate system updates, patches, and potential outages. Schedule redesigns or fixes during off‑peak user hours to avoid disrupting daily operations. Assist in training new jobsite teams and field technicians on the use of SOLV Energy applications. Support the talent development team in creating, administering, and delivering job‑role‑specific application training. Coordinate with IT and Software Development teams for fixes and enhancements to SOLV Energy applications and other interconnected systems. Track and manage all iPads, TVs, and other hardware related to business applications, including applying protective screens or casings, and facilitating the ordering of additional application‑specific devices and accessories. Execute quality‑control practices and procedures for all applications and platforms, completing additional responsibilities as assigned. Objectives or Goals to Measure Performance Successful setup and maintenance of projects within SOLV Energy software applications. Timely responses to support requests. Proactive involvement in scoping new features and capabilities based on customer feedback. Promotion of a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing. Facilitation of training, encouraging adoption and usage of the platform. Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements At least 2 years of application or system administration experience within an IT or related organization. At least 2 years of construction or related PV solar industry experience. Experience troubleshooting iOS and/or Android mobile devices. Experience working with Windows, macOS, and other operating systems. Ability to read and understand project documentation, including contract scopes, construction drawings, schematics, and equipment data sheets. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify underlying issues beyond the obvious. Customer escalation and conflict resolution skills are desirable. Ability to multitask between complex projects and operational requests, thriving in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience writing technical solution articles, user documentation, and training material. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. Knowledge of application back‑end configuration and relational database theory. Experience with software quality assurance and bug reporting. Experience using task‑management tools such as MS Teams, Smartsheet, or similar. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship.
