Salary : $3,055.20 - $3,207.96 Monthly Location : 11 Court Street, Weaverville, CA Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202600054 Department: Behavioral Health Opening Date: 06/30/2026 Closing Date: 7/14/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Definition Under general supervision, to provide client transporting services for scheduled and unscheduled trips; to ensure proper maintenance of assigned vehicles; and to do related work as required.
Examples of Important and Essential Duties (The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required.) Conducts pre-trip safety check of an assigned vehicle, ensuring proper operating condition of safety features; provides direct transportation services for clients, including performance of "on-call" duty, as needed; obeys traffic laws; picks-up and delivers passengers; monitors the maintenance of assigned motor pool vehicles, arranging for servicing and repairs, as appropriate; coordinates client appointments with counseling staff; maintains various reports/driving logs of daily activities and performs courier runs to the courthouse, and or pharmacies. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of:
General knowledge of client problems and behaviors. California vehicle codes and safe driving practices. Principles and methods of preventive maintenance. Basic record keeping. Ability to:
Relate well to health and behavioral health clients. Prepare program reports, forms, and logs. Talk with clients who are experiencing difficult circumstances of deprivation or emotional disturbance. Gather, record, and evaluate financial data. Speak and write effectively. Read, understand, and follow rules, regulations, policies and memos. Communicate with others from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with care providers, agency staff, and the general public.
Training and Experience:Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Some previous experience providing transportation services, preferably including experience in evaluating vehicle condition and maintenance.
Special Requirements:
Possession of an appropriate of a valid California Driver's License with appropriate passenger endorsement, if necessary.
Supplemental Information TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; operate a vehicle safely; operate various office equipment including telephone, copier, and FAX. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in driving environment; some work is performed outdoors in varying temperatures; exposure to hazardous materials, smoke, gasses, and fumes; exposure to hazards such as moving machine parts and electrical current; continuous contact with other staff and the public; work may involve stressful situations that include dealing with erratic and sometimes threatening behavior. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a specialized Transportation Aide classification. Incumbents are responsible for providing client transportation services for clients of County programs. REPORTS TO Health and Behavioral Health management and supervisory staff, as assigned. CLASSIFICATIONS SUPERVISED None. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER In addition to our everyday duties, we have an added responsibility to help in a declared disaster. Under California law, all public employees are Disaster Service Workers and may be called upon in the event of a disaster. The roles and responsibilities for Disaster Service Workers are authorized by the California Emergency Services Act and are defined in the California Government Code 3100-3102; Labor Code 3211.92(b).
