Database Administrator
The Database Administrator will manage and maintain production and non-production databases for the Enhanced Field System (EFS) modernization project. The responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following: Understand the project requirements and project goals and using that understanding to produce deliverables. Serve as technical lead for consultation and guidance for the development of the system through all phases of the project. Review documents, including requirements documents, testing plans, development plans, and architectural plans in order to ensure the implementation of said documents and plans will result in the system required by the user. Participate in strategy meetings to ensure the Enhanced Field System (EFS) Modernization project gets the data needed. Oversee system architecture and database architecture for the Enhanced Field System (EFS) Modernization project. Work with staff with revisions to the plan template and document as required. Contractor shall also provide technical assistance in developing a process for coalition plan submissions and updates through the website as required. Ensure technical direction and standards for database maintenance, access and security are being followed. Provide technical assistance on the re-write of the Single Point of Entry/Unified Waiting List (SPE/UWL) as it transitions into the EFS Modernization effort. Identify and eliminate obstacle to solution plans, business goals or implementation. Assist in the implementation of contingency plans Participate in conference calls with State and Federal stakeholders, as necessary. Research and maintain knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the project/program. The customer is seeking a Database Administrator with a strong background in MS T/SQL, writing stored procedures, user functions using complex objects and patterns with the following qualifications and skills. Required: 8+ years’ experience working with MS SQL database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration of multiple platform environment. 8+ years’ experience managing and maintaining production and non-production databases. 8+ years’ experience performing backup and recovery on physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. 8+ years’ experience with configuring database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models. 5+ years’ experience defining data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. 5+ years’ experience optimizing database access and allocating/re-allocating resources for optimum configuration, performance, and costs. 4+ years’ experience working with Azure SQL Managed Instance. 4+ years’ experience working with Azure SQL Database. 3+ years’ supporting multiple services and multiple databases of medium and high complexity with multiple concurrent users and ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of data. 2+ years’ experience supporting a High Availability Clustered Databases. 1+ years’ experience working with SQL monitoring tools (i.e. Redgate tool belt). 1+ years’ experience serving as technical lead for consultation and guidance in the development of the system through all phases of a project. 1+ years’ experience reviewing documents (including requirement documents) testing plans, development plans, and architectural plans. 1+ years’ experience in oversight of system architecture and database architecture for statewide projects. 1+ years’ experience working with Azure Dev Ops (TFS) and Visual Studio.NET. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio, Reviews documents, including requirements documents, testing plans, development plans and architectural plans to ensure that implementation of said documents and plans will result in the system required by the user. Demonstrated experience with large-scale implementation projects. Preferred: Computer Science or Management Information Systems degree 10+ years’ experience in MS SQL 10+ years’ experience maintenance of production and non-production database 10+ years’ experience performing backup and recovery steps 10+ years’ experience configuring database parameters and prototyping designs 7+ years’ experience data dictionaries and warehouse requirements 7+ years’ experience database optimization 6+ years’ experience working with Azure SQL Managed Instance 6+ years’ experience working with Azure SQL Database 5+ years’ experience with multiple high complexity databases 4+ years’ experience supporting a High Availability Clustered DB 3+ years’ experience working with SQL monitoring tools (i.e. Redgate tool belt) 3+ years’ experience as technical lead 3+ years’ experience reviewing development/architectural plans 3+ years’ experience managing system and database architecture 3+ years’ experience in ADO and VS.NET Experience working in state government Ability to work with other developers under the leadership of a Project Manager and/or Application Manager The Database Administrator will be responsible for the following: Understanding the project requirements and project goals and using that understanding to produce deliverables. Working with database administrator lead to ensure stability, security, and optimization of database environments. Performing database monitoring, backups, and database environment synchronizations. Communicating project progress and information to key team members. Assisting in the preparation of information for program leadership team, executive steering committee, and project manager as appropriate. Ensuring technical direction and standards for infrastructure and software applications are being followed. Understanding strategic direction and tactical goals, and effectively participating in the development and implementation of business solutions. Assisting both internal and external resources to achieve business solutions within project guidelines. Identifying and eliminating obstacles to solution plans, business goals or implementation. Assist in the development and implementation of contingency plans. Participating in conference calls with State and Federal stakeholders, as necessary. Researching and maintaining knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the project / program. Types of key deliverables include, but are not limited to the following: Business and Technical requirements Technical specifications Process, system, data flow, and network diagrams Design documents Program or technical analyses Test Plans Status reports Application modules developed and tested to meet project specifications. Timely delivery of all project artifacts in accordance with approved project schedules. Accurate, executable, and maintainable software and source code developed according to user specifications and customer standards. Reliable development, test and production infrastructure configured according to customer standards. Technical documentation related to requirements, specifications, traceability matrices, designs or testing. This position does not include travel. Travel that is required so the vendor can be located in or attend meetings in Tallahassee will NOT be covered by the customer.
