Data Analyst (Guidewire PolicyCenter) Location:
Remote (U.S.-based preferred) Type: Contract
Overview We are seeking an experienced
Data Analyst with strong Guidewire PolicyCenter expertise
to support data validation, reporting, and ETL processes within a complex insurance environment. This role will work closely with data engineering, reporting, and application teams to ensure accuracy, integrity, and usability of PolicyCenter data across downstream systems.
Key Responsibilities Data Modeling & Mapping Validation
Validate database schemas and data models supporting PolicyCenter reporting and downstream systems (ODS, data warehouse, reporting marts)
Perform source-to-target mapping validation to ensure accurate data transformations and business logic
Review data dictionaries, entity relationships, and model assumptions (keys, grain, effective dating, history handling)
ETL & SSIS Validation
Validate ETL/SSIS processes for data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
Perform checks on row counts, key integrity, incremental/delta logic, and load schedules
Support ETL testing cycles and troubleshoot failures across source, staging, and reporting layers
PolicyCenter Data Expertise
Work extensively with PolicyCenter data structures, including key entities such as Account, Policy, PolicyPeriod, and Job
Interpret policy lifecycle transactions including New Business, Renewals, Endorsements, Cancellations, Reinstatements, and Rewrites
Ensure accurate representation of coverage, risk attributes, and policy-level data in reporting outputs
SQL Development & Support
Write and optimize complex SQL queries (joins, CTEs, window functions)
Support developers and analysts with query logic for coverage selection, effective dates, and transaction-based reporting
Ensure proper understanding of data grain to avoid duplication and misreporting
Recommend performance improvements (indexing, filtering, query tuning)
Data Quality & Reconciliation
Develop and execute data quality checks (completeness, validity, referential integrity, duplicates)
Reconcile data across systems (source staging reporting layers)
Analyze discrepancies and partner with technical teams to resolve data issues
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Maintain documentation including data lineage, table relationships, and query best practices
Create reusable SQL scripts, validation checklists, and reconciliation frameworks
Document known data nuances and business logic considerations
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience as a Data Analyst
Hands-on experience with
Guidewire PolicyCenter data
Strong SQL skills (complex joins, CTEs, performance tuning)
Experience validating ETL processes (SSIS or similar tools)
Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (keys, grain, dimensions/facts, effective dating)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data warehouses, ODS, and reporting layers
Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS
Experience building data validation frameworks or reconciliation processes
Understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain and policy lifecycle
