At DornerWorks, our engineers design and deliver embedded solutions that power life‑critical medical devices, enable mission‑ready systems, and drive innovation across industries. This role involves developing software for a wide variety of customer products and working across all facets of embedded software development.
What the role entails
Develop and deliver embedded software for client products.
Collaborate with technical project teams and contribute expertise.
Demonstrate innovation by proposing creative solutions to internal and external teams.
Lead and mentor other engineers, sharing knowledge and influencing best practices.
Continuously grow expertise while partnering with outstanding technical colleagues.
Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
2+ years of professional experience in embedded software development.
Proficiency in C/C++/Rust and scripting languages.
Hands‑on experience developing and debugging on Embedded Linux platforms.
Proven expertise with Yocto or OpenEmbedded build systems, BSP development, custom layer creation, and configuration.
Experience or interest in working closely with external clients to offer technical solutions.
Unrestricted right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred
Strong proficiency with real‑time operating systems such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
Experience with various microcontrollers, cores, and technologies (ARM, NXP, Microchip, Texas Instruments).
Familiarity with embedded communication standards: SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, USB, etc.
Experience with seL4.

Salary Range Early‑career engineer: $62,000 – $95,000 Mid‑level engineer: $95,000 – $118,000 Advanced engineer: $118,000 – $156,000
