The Director of Therapy Administration is a senior administrative and operational leader with a strong clinical background responsible for the overall management, coordination, and performance of therapy service delivery across Callen-Lorde Community Health Center's Behavioral Health program. Reporting to the Chief Behavioral Health Officer, this role provides centralized oversight of therapy operations across Article 28, Article 31/MHOTRS, and integrated behavioral health settings, with responsibility for patient access, staffing and coverage, productivity, workflow execution, documentation timeliness, and operational performance.

This role oversees the administrative infrastructure that supports effective, efficient, and patient-centered therapy services across the department. In close collaboration with behavioral health clinical, administrative, and interdisciplinary leadership, the Director ensures therapy services are operationally sound, compliant with regulatory and documentation requirements, responsive to patient and program needs, and aligned with Callen-Lorde's mission and model of care. The Director maintains a limited clinical caseload, as determined in collaboration with the Chief Behavioral Health Officer, to support departmental needs and maintain familiarity with clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the administrative and operational management of therapy services across behavioral health programs.
  • Oversee therapy service delivery across Article 28, Article 31/MHOTRS, and integrated behavioral health settings, ensuring efficient, consistent, and patient-centered operations.
  • Develop and maintain operational standards, workflows, and service delivery expectations related to therapy services across sites and programs.
  • Oversee patient access to therapy services, including scheduling capacity, staffing and coverage plans, caseload distribution, and continuity of care.
  • Monitor operational performance indicators such as access, visit utilization, productivity, no-show trends, throughput, and documentation timeliness, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and accountability.
  • Provide direct administrative supervision, coaching, and performance oversight to assigned therapy operations leaders and staff.
  • Support workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and operational orientation for therapy operations and designated leadership roles.
  • Oversee operational compliance related to therapy services, including documentation timeliness, workflow adherence, and readiness for internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, performance monitoring, and operational accountability across therapy services.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Therapist Development and other behavioral health leaders to ensure strong alignment between clinical supervision structures and therapy operations, while maintaining clear role boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary, operational, and site leadership to support coordinated, efficient, and integrated behavioral health service delivery across programs and sites.
  • Maintain a limited clinical caseload to support departmental needs and remain familiar with therapy workflows.

This is a full-time position with evening hours.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field required.
  • NYS license and registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Clinical Psychologist (PhD/PsyD) required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in behavioral health, ambulatory healthcare operations, therapy program administration, or related clinical/operational leadership required, with at least 7 years of supervisory, management, or related leadership experience.
  • Experience working in an Article 28 and/or Article 31/MHOTRS outpatient clinic, Office of Mental Health (OMH) setting, hospital, or other comparable ambulatory behavioral health setting required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading therapy, behavioral health, or ambulatory service operations, including patient access, scheduling, staffing, productivity, workflow management, and service delivery oversight required.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing performance in a complex clinical or healthcare operations environment required.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring operational metrics and implementing workflow, access, or performance improvement initiatives required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting documentation standards, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and operational accountability in a healthcare or behavioral health setting required.
