Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. The Southern California Area Sales Manager (ASM) is the primary external representative of Sulzer’s Electro Mechanical Services (EMS) and is financially responsible for the Order Intake, Gross Profit Margin, and Operating Net Cash-Flow. You will engage clients and promote and represent Sulzer’s RES businesses (Pumps and Turbo) to provide full RES Services to Southern California. You will prospect new sales opportunities with clients from first contact to the closure of orders and/or until projects have been completed. You will work closely with other Sulzer teams including Inside Sales, Business Process, Operations, Engineering, Finance, QC, Safety, and HR to secure, ship, and invoice profitable orders. Responsibilities
Meet or exceed the Order Intake budget for the assigned area/product line Develop, sell and maintain all business responsibilities for the assigned area/product line Develop and implement sales strategies consistent with the goals of Sulzer Plan, support and monitor sales activity within the area/product line Develop and deliver technical and commercially superior proposals to the client Support all business activities with the client through closing and invoicing Develop, maintain and report accurate sales forecasts Review of RFPs, contracts, POs and terms for all business opportunities Control all business expenses as if they were your own Be proficient with and maintain Salesforce: opportunities, outage tracking and market condition events, trip call reports and competition updates Coordinate, plan, attend and execute promotional trade shows and events Participate in quarterly sales calls or meetings with the management team Support Sulzer strategic initiatives on safety, business, ethics and quality Present a positive, proactive, professional attitude and appearance at all times Frequent travel into the area assigned Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business is preferred 5+ years of industry knowledge and experience with Electric Motors and Generators Previous experience proactively influencing or closing business with clients, co‑workers, and/or commercial peers In-depth knowledge of motors, generators and Sulzer’s complete product line Ability to understand, interpret and discuss technical and commercial documents High personal standards of character and impeccable moral and ethical behavior Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to read, write and discuss micro details and macro situations, and to interface with personnel from diverse backgrounds at all levels of clients’ organizations Willingness to travel frequently and bring business back as a result Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines Understanding of basic financial statements Proficiency at or ability to quickly learn how to use Salesforce Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., to support selling activities Benefits
