Mobile/Field Service Diesel Technician – Spokane, WA Diesel Technicians at Gordon Truck Centers (GTC) are responsible for performing on‑road and customer‑on‑site maintenance services, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy‑duty equipment.
Run diagnostic tests and analyze results.
Repair or replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
Apply working knowledge of engines, transmissions, differentials, A/C, and suspensions.
Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine unit condition and identify deficiencies.
Read schematics for electrical and air systems.
Develop technical skills through training opportunities.
Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications; make necessary adjustments if required.
Maintain cleanliness of the mobile service truck.
Pay Range
$20.00 – $50.00 per hour based upon level of skill and experience. Night shift, weekend shift, and lead/mentor differential pay available.
Work Schedules
Work schedules and shifts will vary depending on business needs. GTC can accommodate a wide range of shifts.
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a CDL‑A (preferable).
Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate or ability to obtain one.
Two or more years of heavy equipment dealership experience is helpful; three years of actual truck repair experience required.
Full complement of tools for diesel equipment repair (wrenches and sockets to 1¼”, 3/8” and ½” drive, air tools, floor creeper, roll‑around tool cabinet).
Strong physical ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 100 pounds; ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb as necessary.
Ability to operate a telephone and computer.
Physical Demands
Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers. Ability to drive a vehicle and safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat, and kneel as necessary. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Environmental Demands
Primarily outdoor work. High noise level. Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
