The Role The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality reporting, dashboards, and analytical insights that support revenue growth, performance management, and executive decision-making across RAJ Sports’ professional sports teams, the Portland Thorns (NWSL) and Portland Fire (WNBA). Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Intelligence, this role leads the day-to-day execution of business intelligence, translating business data into clear, actionable insights for Ticketing, Marketing, Partnerships, Communications, Finance, and Executive Leadership. This position will act as a strategic analytics partner to business stakeholders while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and usability of reporting outputs.
What You’ll Be Up To
Build and maintain Tableau dashboards, KPI scorecards, and automated reports
Ensure all reporting aligns to defined KPIs and metric standards for the following:
Ticketing performance
Pricing and revenue performance
Marketing campaign results and ROI
Corporate partner reporting and recaps
Executive and league-level reporting
Support business leaders with analytical frameworks and insights that inform decision making
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities using internal and external data sources
Develop analyses related to fan behavior, purchasing trends, and performance outcomes
Provide clear context and recommendations alongside analytical outputs
Maintain and support evolving KPI frameworks used across departments
Develop analytical models and projections in the data warehouse to support:
Sales and revenue performance
Trend forecasting and scenario modeling
Fan segmentation insights
Partner with the Senior Director on more advanced predictive and strategic analyses
Participate in cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed
Data Warehouse & Data Quality
Own the analytics layer of the organization’s cloud-based data warehouse, ensuring reliable, scalable, and optimized data structures
Write, maintain, and optimize advanced SQL queries, views, and derived tables to support reporting and strategic use cases
Partner with data engineering resources to validate pipelines across ticketing, CRM, marketing, partnership, and merchandise
Monitor warehouse performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities
Validate data accuracy and integrity in reporting outputs
Proactively surface data issues and collaborate with systems and data partners to resolve them
Support adoption of BI tools through training, documentation, and best practice guidance
Maintain documentation for warehouse schemas, business logic, and rules
Ensure compliance with league reporting requirements and data privacy regulations
Define user access standards
What It Takes
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. Master’s in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or Statistics preferred
Experience in professional sports, entertainment, or consumer-facing industries strongly preferred
3–5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or a related field
Advanced proficiency in Tableau or similar data visualization tools
Advanced knowledge of SQL with experience building complex queries, transformations, and performance-optimized datasets
Advanced Excel skills for analysis and validation
Experience working with cloud-based data warehouse environments
Familiarity with ticketing or event-based data systems is a plus
