Job Summary Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is a nonprofit, federally qualified health center dedicated to ensuring that individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Greater Boston have access to the highest quality health care. Our mission centers equity, dignity, and compassionate care for every patient we serve.
The Cybersecurity and Applications Engineer is a mid-level technical role responsible for maintaining and improving the organization’s IT environment across business applications, cybersecurity operations, and end‑user support. This role provides technical leadership for application implementations and enhancements, serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues, and contributes significantly to cybersecurity initiatives including access governance, data hygiene, and risk reduction.
This position is ideal for a well‑rounded IT professional who enjoys balancing hands‑on support, system ownership, and security‑focused operational work in a collaborative, small‑team environment.

Responsibilities Applications & Systems Ownership
Act as technical owner for select business applications and SaaS platforms
Lead or support implementation of new systems, upgrades, and integrations
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate into technical solutions
Manage vendors and support relationships for key platforms
Support data integrity, reporting, and system optimization efforts
Cybersecurity Operations
Perform user access reviews, account lifecycle management, and permission cleanup
Support data classification, retention, and cleanup initiatives
Assist with implementation and administration of security tools and policies (e.g., endpoint protection, identity management, DLP)
Monitor and respond to security alerts in collaboration with internal or external partner
Contribute to security awareness and best practices across the organization
Participate in audits, risk assessments, and compliance-related activities
IT Support & Operations (Level II/III)
Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues across endpoints, systems, and applications
Troubleshoot and resolve advanced hardware, software, and connectivity problems
Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures
Monitor system performance and reliability; proactively address issues
Additional Responsibilities
Act as technical lead on small‑to‑medium IT projects
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency
Support IT documentation, asset management, and change management processes
Collaborate closely with broader IT team to prioritize and execute initiatives
Participate in IT Team on‑call rotation duties to support systems outside of normal business hours (1 week approximately every 2 months)
Qualifications Required
3–6 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations
Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows endpoints, networking basics, and SaaS platforms
Experience supporting and administering business applications (e.g., Microsoft 365 or similar ecosystems)
Working knowledge of core cybersecurity practices (IAM, endpoint security, least privilege, data protection)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a small team environment
Preferred
Exposure to compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST)
Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
Prior experience participating in system implementations or migrations

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $68,460 - $109,536 annually.
BHCHP full‑time employees are eligible for our competitive time off program, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan, pre‑tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount, additional compensation for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and more. Benefits are prorated for part‑time employees.
