Copywriter Location: Austin, TX This role reports directly to the Creative Director of Copy for Whole Foods Market. We are seeking a copywriter who excels in conceptual and strategic thinking, simplifying complex ideas into short, crisp, clear messaging, and writing engaging food copy for digital, signage, and UI. We need a highly charged and curious leader capable of managing tentpole projects across multiple brands that demand all three skills. The ideal candidate is customer‑obsessed, adaptable, proactive, comfortable with changing priorities, and confident about presenting and defending ideas across the organization. An advertising portfolio that showcases approachable, neighborly writing with a love for food is essential. Key Responsibilities Lead projects with multiple stakeholders, balancing business needs with positive solutions. Write food copy in diverse styles, maintaining brand voice—snappy short copy for UX, concise clear promo copy for emails, digital banners, paid media, and in‑store signage. Ideate and write editorial content for a compelling customer experience on Whole Foods Market and Amazon websites, integrating consumer insights and SEO data. Collaborate with designers on photo selection, design, and overall asset strength to ensure a strong finished product. Present work to the Creative Director, Design Director, and Senior Leadership. Respectfully challenge decisions—maintain a backbone while being ready to disagree and commit. Manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment. Maintain familiarity with Whole Foods Market and Amazon culture, brand, Core Values, Leadership Principles, and Quality Standards. Skills Culinary knowledge beyond that of a typical writer. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency. Established writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Experience with broadcast writing (TV, radio, video campaigns). Understanding of digital and print marketing and their production processes. Ability to research and build a knowledge base on a variety of topics and create context to communicate information clearly to customers. Ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential information. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience. 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience. 2+ years of UX designer or interaction designer experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with editorial platforms (Avid, Resolve) and data management systems and tools.
