Position Overview This is a skilled position requiring the individual to perform maintenance and repair of all company equipment and assigned duties. The role is primarily a lube technician, with occasional shop work performing maintenance on trucks and equipment during the slow season. Work includes day and swing shifts, weekends, travel, and frequent work outside of normal business hours.
Wage Range: $25 to $30 per hour, dependent upon experience.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Perform preventative maintenance services on trucks and equipment.
Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Repair or replace defective parts.
Service equipment as necessary.
Lubricate and clean parts.
Take oil samples and keep good records on equipment.
Inspect welds, broken parts, and structural members.
Function with minimal interaction or supervision a large portion of the time.
Work in PM programs such as Hexagon.
Work in Timecard programs such as Workforce.
Be self‑motivated.
Inspect and identify vehicles for DOT violations.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Class B CDL is required
Air brakes, manual transmission endorsements preferred
DOT Medical Card
Work Requirements
Must be 18 years in age or older.
Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends, when necessary.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (LOTO Lock Out Tag Out).
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to read a measuring tape.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Physical Demands
Employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment.
Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders.
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment Employees may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. Noise levels are usually moderate, with occasional exposure to loud noises.
