Overview The Manager is responsible for providing leadership for the team involved in analytics to support the conceptualization, design and implementation of care management programs. Duties include designing epidemiologic studies to understand disease burden in insured populations and health care services utilized for disease diagnosis and treatment; monitoring/mentoring multiple projects to ensure appropriate epidemiologic study designs and statistical methods; driving continuous methodological improvement; assisting in planning and implementation of programs to prevent and control diseases; preparing presentations and technical reports to communicate findings to leadership and other stakeholders; and performing additional roles such as strategizing, innovating, planning, organizing, budgeting, reporting, and identifying equipment needs to maintain an efficient and effective department.
PAY RANGE: $94,500 to $158,300, based on internal equity, candidate skills, experience, location, market and other factors.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct activities of an assigned business area, including planning, training, motivation, staff development, staff selection, and communication.
Manage staff responsible for delivering exemplary customer service or efficient support (e.g., marketing strategies, communication materials, campaigns).
Maintain and promote quality relationships with internal and external customers.
Compile and analyze statistics and prepare activity-related reports, manpower needs, inventories, and monitor all workflows within the unit.
Lead and participate in workgroups and task forces to complete special assignments and projects.
Coordinate and set priorities to maintain continuity in accomplishing department goals.
Recommend processes to control expenditures and promote efficient use of resources.
Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget, identify discrepancies, investigate causes, and recommend solutions.
Balance workload to optimize department effectiveness.
Requirements Education and Experience
Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, or related field. Doctoral degree preferred.
Continuous learning and pursuit of certification are required; certification progress is highly preferred.
Seven years of progressive responsibility in a business environment, with at least three years of supervisory or lead experience.
At least three years of experience in epidemiology or a related field.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of complex epidemiologic and surveillance methods.
Knowledge of population health management concepts, program evaluation, and needs assessment.
Knowledge of health insurance and health care industry, especially enterprise business products and programs.
Strong analytical skills, including statistical methods, business process metrics, outcomes measurement, process modeling, and quality assessment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in data languages such as R, Python, and SQL.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicating effectively with employees at all levels.
Solid knowledge of reporting tools: Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and statistical software (R).
Self‑motivated and capable of working well under pressure.
Ability to present information and respond to questions from internal and external contacts at all levels.
Ability to read, analyze, write, and develop communications and reports as required by leadership.
Strong listening and information exchange skills.
Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Directly supervise a varied number of employees in the designated department(s), conducting hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewards, discipline, and problem resolution in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
