Description

Job Purpose: The Service Counter Clerk at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by efficiently handling transactions, addressing customer inquiries, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. This role involves maintaining the service counter's operations, processing returns and exchanges, and upholding store policies to enhance customer satisfaction. Must be 18 + years or older to apply. Key Responsibilities: Greet customers warmly and provide assistance with their inquiries and needs. Process returns, exchanges, and refunds accurately and efficiently. Answer customer questions and provide information about products and services. Handle customer complaints professionally and work towards resolving issues. Assist with special orders, rain checks, or store credits as needed. Operate POS systems to process transactions and verify receipts, documentation, or identification when required. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service counter area. Follow store policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency. Communicate effectively with team members and management to facilitate smooth operations.

Qualifications

Required Education: High school diploma or GED Preferred Education: Some college coursework or related experience Required Experience: No prior work experience required - Willingness to learn and follow procedures - Ability to interact politely with customers Preferred Experience: 12 years in retail, cashier, or customer service roles - Experience handling cash, POS systems, or returns - Experience resolving customer complaints or issues - Basic familiarity with store operations and inventory Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to greet customers and provide excellent service Capability to process returns, exchanges, and refunds efficiently Skill in answering customer questions and addressing complaints Proficiency in operating POS systems Ability to verify receipts, documentation, or identification when required Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and following store policies Effective communication skills
