About the Role

The Bilingual Medical Assistant/Front Desk professional plays a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations within a healthcare setting by bridging communication between patients and medical staff. This position requires managing front desk responsibilities such as patient check-in, appointment scheduling, and handling patient inquiries, while also providing clinical support to healthcare providers. The bilingual aspect of the role is essential for effectively communicating with a diverse patient population, ensuring that language barriers do not impede quality care. Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly spoken in the community served.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic office software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a medical office or clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems and appointment scheduling software.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and check in patients, verifying and updating their personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in both English and the second language fluently.
  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and documenting medical histories.
  • Manage front desk operations including filing, faxing, and maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times and ensure efficient use of provider time.
  • Collect co-pays and process payments, providing receipts and managing billing inquiries.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and staff to facilitate clear understanding of medical instructions and office policies.
