Salary Range Salary range contains multiple steps. In most cases, the salary will be set at the starting point of the range for the grade level qualified for new federal employees. GS-7: $57,331 to $74,532. GS-9: $68,545 to $89,114.
As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement.

Qualifications For all IT positions, individuals must have IT‑related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies and the specialized experience for the specific grade level or the specified level of education.
Attention to Detail
– Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service
– Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality services.
Oral Communication
– Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking account of audience and nature; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving
– Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
GS-7 Eligibility To be eligible at the GS‑7 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions.
Specialized Experience One (1) full year of experience equivalent to the GS‑05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing IT customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; coordinating teleconference and distance learning activities; installing new upgraded software; collaborating to configure systems using knowledge of network standards and protocols; and maintaining access control systems.
Education Successful completion of one (1) full year of graduate education (18 semester hours or the number of units your school uses to describe one graduate year of academic study) leading to a master’s degree in a related field (e.g., computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management) that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform Information Technology Specialist work.
Superior Academic Achievement Possess a Bachelor’s degree or expect to complete the requirements for a Bachelor’s degree within the next 9 months and possess at least one of the following: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher; GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses in your major; or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. Degree must be in one of the specified fields or provide a minimum of 24 semester hours in these fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
GS-9 Eligibility To be eligible at the GS‑9 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions.
Specialized Experience One (1) full year of experience equivalent to the GS‑07 grade level. Qualifying experience includes IT customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; installing and distributing new or upgraded software; assisting converting user‑developed content into workable web pages; installing routine updates and patches; and maintaining access control systems.
Education Possess one of the following types of education in a related field: a master’s or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Special Considerations After reviewing an eligibility letter, you may receive selection priority under the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) or the Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP). Eligibility requires proof of displaced employee status, application under the provided instructions, and a score of 85 or better on ranking criteria.
