Part Time Instructors Needed
Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) located just outside of Seattle, WA, is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers 12 bachelor's degrees, 42 associate degrees, and 70 professional certificates in 41 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. LWTech serves the Eastside and is located within the city of Kirkland, which is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Washington. Kirkland is home to companies such as GoDaddy, Google, Astronics and EvergreenHealth, and the college is within minutes from Microsoft and Nintendo. Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking qualified part time instructors to teach in the Design program. All instructor positions require two years work experience; college teaching experience and industry certifications are preferred. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) 2D Design This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future part-time faculty vacancies. The college hires part-time faculty on a quarter by quarter basis, dependent on enrollment. Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goals Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum Develop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity and non-discrimination Teach productive and constructive study skills to students Develop classroom and lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and procedures Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning Post the class syllabus and students' grades via the online course system (currently Canvas) Qualifications
Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred 2 years related work experience College teaching experience preferred Prior e-learning and learning management system (LMS) experience desirable Industry certifications preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations Due to the diversity of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingual Previous experience with an online course system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Sakai, Moodle) preferred Supplemental Information
Compensation Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B. Step 1 ranges from $738.38 - $2,335.13 Step 2 ranges from $819.15 - $2,457.46 Step 3 ranges from $835.95 - $2,507.85 Step 4 ranges from $893.51 - $2,680.54 Step 5 ranges from $916.30 - $2,748.90 Step 6 ranges from $957.08 - $2,871.24 Conditions of employment include: official transcripts/certifications will be required upon employment, other conditions that may apply will be detailed upon the offer of employment, and job offers are contingent upon successful completion of background/reference checks. Eligibility verification will require proof of identity, and documentation of U.S. citizenship or legal Authorization to work.
