High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a certified Patient Care Assistant or Nursing Assistant training program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a healthcare or long-term care setting. Additional certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA). Responsibilities:
Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding. Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, under the supervision of nursing staff. Provide mobility assistance, including helping patients move safely within the facility and positioning bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in patient rooms and common areas to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to report patient status and any concerns promptly.
Skills: The Patient Care Assistant utilizes strong communication skills daily to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members. Attention to detail is critical when monitoring patient conditions and accurately recording vital signs to support clinical decision-making. Physical stamina and dexterity are essential for assisting patients with mobility and personal care tasks safely. Time management skills help prioritize responsibilities to ensure timely patient care and maintain a clean environment. Additionally, adaptability and problem-solving abilities enable the assistant to respond promptly to changing patient needs and healthcare situations.
