We are seeking a dedicated Courier Phlebotomist to join our team in a regional healthcare setting within the Southern United States. This role involves the careful transport of specimens to maintain integrity, proper temperature, and timely delivery. You will respond promptly to urgent pick-ups, maintain the company vehicle according to checklist standards, and complete courier logs accurately. Key Responsibilities:
Transport specimens and laboratory supplies with care and efficiency. Communicate effectively with laboratory leadership regarding any issues affecting quality or care. Adhere to all standard operating procedures and regulatory standards including CLIA and Joint Commission guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy and supply areas. Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks accurately on patients of all ages following established policies. Ensure proper patient identification and labeling of samples in the presence of patients. Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring viability and proper rotation of reagents. Operate vehicles safely in compliance with regional motor vehicle laws and perform routine vehicle inspections. Complete clerical duties such as order entry, report dispatch, and follow-up on patient collections. Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining flexibility and organization in a fast-paced environment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred. Experience: Previous experience in phlebotomy and specimen transport is highly desirable. Familiarity with laboratory information systems and regulatory standards is a plus. Requirements: Ability to perform venipunctures and other specimen collection techniques accurately, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. Must be able to operate a vehicle safely and maintain compliance with all safety protocols.
