Your Role in Synergy's Success
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in food manufacturing and processing environments to support the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of food production equipment and processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with sanitary design, processing equipment, and regulatory standards applicable to the food industry. This role will support both of our Chicago manufacturing sites.
How You Will Contribute
Design, specify, and support mechanical systems and equipment used in food processing, packaging, and material handlingLead equipment selection and layout for production lines (mixing, cooking, filling, conveying, packaging, etc.)Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, FSMA, GMP, and sanitary design standardsCollaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Safety and Engineering teams to improve throughput, reliability, and safetyDevelop and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation (P&IDs, layouts, BOMs)Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and line upgradesTroubleshoot mechanical failures and drive root cause analysis and corrective actionsManage capital improvement projects from concept through startupInterface with equipment vendors, integrators, and contractorsDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, efficiency, and waste reduction
Salary Range: $105,000 to 142,000/yr
The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
