Position: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (Part-time) Salary Schedule/Base Annual Rate (Subject to Change): Certified Salary Schedule /$54,067 (Pro-rated for part-time $32,440.20). Additional credit for related years of service and education. About the Role The Speech Pathologist Assistant plans and provides direct therapy services to eliminate or reduce delays or impairments that interfere with student's ability to receive full benefit from their academic instruction. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists Speech-Language Pathologists with prescribed therapy by working with and tutoring individuals and small groups of students in the area of speech and language communication, including articulation, language, voice and fluency skills Follows documented treatment plans or protocols Supports the Mission, Vision and goals of JO Combs Unified School District Serves as a team member at a student's Individualized Ed Progress meeting Provides professional advice and consultation to staff related to communication needs and services in the schools for the response to intervention process Develops daily speech services schedule Acts as case manager for speech language only special education students Plans and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Program (IEP) Collaborates with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students Assists in the selection of materials, equipment, and supplies for therapy Documents students' progress towards meeting IEP goals and objectives Communicates effectively with parents, teachers and principal Registers with and complete RMTS and MIPS billing as requested Maintains records as required by law, school district policies and administrative regulations Participates in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, staff meetings and other opportunities Attends monthly speech language meetings May be required to participate in student's meetings which occur beyond the staff's work assignment schedule Monitors and assists in maintaining assistive devices Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designee
What You Need Must possess and maintain valid DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Possess an Arizona Department of Education Speech Language Pathologist Assistant certification Associate's degree for the speech-language pathology assistant (SLP-A) Technical coursework required for the SLP-A license issued by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Knowledge of speech and language strategies required to reduce or eliminate communication delays in students PK-secondary Knowledge of AZ statute and IDEA guidelines for the delivery of speech and language services Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in a clear and logical manner Ability to establishing rapport with students, parents, faculty and staff Ability to manage time effectively Ability to maintain all timelines in relation to state statute and IDEA regulations Ability to draft goals and present levels of performance for SLP review Ability to implement instructional strategies based on SLP assessments Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administration and the community; Ability to collaborate and work in teams Ability to maintain current First Aid, and CPR certification Ability to utilize assistive technology devices for communication Ability to complete online MIPS billing Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
