Medical Assistant

Join a friendly, specialty nephrology practice with exceptional interdisciplinary teamwork, supporting a team of 19 providers. This is a MondayFriday position with no weekends or on-call requirements, and MaineHealth holidays off, offering an excellent worklife balance. The Medical Assistant will provide primarily clinical support to office providers, including rooming patients for in-person visits by gathering and updating medical information, preparing patients for telehealth appointments, and maintaining ongoing communication with patients regarding provider instructions. The role also involves close collaboration with nursing staff on clinical questions and triage issues, as well as supporting clinical projects such as lab entry, prior authorizations, and referral processing. The ideal candidate is friendly, eager to learn new skills, adaptable, and a strong team player who enjoys contributing to a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Medical Assistant Summary: The Medical Assistant (MA) role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant MA functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
  • Experience: Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
