Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and efficient patient care. This full-time Medical Assistant role in a float pool setting offers a dynamic work environment with a Monday through Friday day shift schedule. General Summary The Medical Assistant operates within their scope of practice to support patient care as delegated by licensed nurses, physicians, or advanced practice providers. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, excellent customer service, attention to detail, multitasking ability, critical thinking, and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling. Provide direct patient interaction such as escorting patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly. Manage communication by routing phone messages, answering patient inquiries, and assisting with physician return calls. Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered. Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis. Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed by providers. Complete necessary paperwork including prior authorizations and referrals in a timely manner. Maintain supply inventory, clean and stock exam rooms, and educate patients on electronic health record access. Support orientation and training of new medical assistants. Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. Education Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required. Experience Preferred: One year of Medical Assistant or related medical specialist experience, ideally in a clinical setting. Certification and Licenses
Preferred: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited organization such as AMT. Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Mental and Physical Requirements Requires considerable mental focus. Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
