*JOB SUMMARY for Speech-Language Pathologist:*
The Behavior Helper Academy (TBHA) is seeking a passionate, experienced, and certified Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team of dedicated professionals supporting students in accordance to their Individualized Development Program (IEP). This position is focused on delivering individualized, evidence-based speech and language services, to students who are nonverbal or have limited verbal communication.
There needs to be a strong emphasis on alternative and augmentative communication
(AAC), along with providing speech and language therapy to individuals with behavioral needs and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of a Speech Language-Pathologist:*
* Provide speech and language therapy to students with an IEP and, often times, behavioral challenges. There focus on nonverbal and minimally verbal students and speech and language therapy to students with behavioral challenges.
* Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with special education teams.
* Recommend and support the implementation of AAC systems (e.g., PECS, speech-generating devices, communication boards).
* Train staff and families in the use of AAC tools and communication strategies.
* Collaborate with behavior specialists, occupational therapists, educators, and families to support communication goals across settings.
* Collect data, monitor progress, and adjust interventions as needed.
* Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development activities.
* All other duties as assigned.
*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:* None
*Qualifications and Requirements for Speech Language Pathologist:*
* Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
* Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
o Must keep all relevant certifications current and valid.
* State license or eligibility for license as an SLP in MO.
* Experience working with students with Autism, including nonverbal learners.
* Familiarity with AAC tools and strategies.
* Strong understanding of behavioral supports and trauma-informed practices.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
* Must be physically able to actively engage with students in various environments, which may include walking, running, bending, kneeling, or moving quickly to maintain proximity and ensure safety.
* Ability to safely lift over 50lbs.
* Minimum 30 day notice required for resignation.
*Preferred Qualifications*:
* Experience in school-based or pediatric settings.
* Training in ABA principles, behavior management, or related approaches.
