Restaurant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 23 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the quick service or fast-food industry
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Proven experience managing operations, inventory, scheduling, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding customer service and effectively resolve guest concerns
  • Experience in training, developing, and motivating teams to achieve performance targets
  • Familiarity with budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control
  • Strong understanding of health/safety regulations and labor laws
  • Experience with POS systems, scheduling software, and other relevant technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Restaurant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily operations to ensure the restaurant meets targets for profitability, quality, and guest satisfaction
  • Recruit, hire, train, and inspire a high-performing team of assistant managers, shift leads, and crew members
  • Manage inventory, scheduling, and cost controls to maximize efficiency and profitability
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences by ensuring prompt, accurate, and friendly service
  • Uphold operational and brand standards, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Monitor safety, cleanliness, and maintenance to provide a welcoming environment for staff and guests
  • Engage with the local community to strengthen brand presence and guest loyalty
