Overview The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support its Finance and Analytics organization within the department. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role in delivering financial insights, maintaining forecasting models, and supporting data‑driven decision‑making across the institution. This role offers the opportunity to independently lead analytics and modeling efforts while contributing to strategic financial initiatives.
UT MD Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Senior Financial Analyst will work in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment that emphasizes excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in financial operations and analytics.
The ideal candidate brings experience in financial analysis, project management, and health care finance, with strong analytical skills and familiarity with systems such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Access, SQL, or other database analysis tools. A background in capital planning or oncology‑related operations is beneficial, along with experience preparing presentations, managing workflows, and supporting complex financial processes.
Minimum Salary: $77,500 - Midpoint: $97,000 - Maximum: $116,500.
Work Location: Hybrid Onsite/Remote. The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm.

Responsibilities Financial Modeling & Forecasting
Maintain and enhance the organization's long‑term forecast model.
Complete pro‑forma financial modeling independently to support strategic initiatives.
Analytics Development & Delivery
Develop, own, and deliver requested financial analytics independently.
Analyze financial datasets to generate actionable insights for decision‑making.
Business Planning & Financial Diligence
Assist with financial diligence related to the institution's business planning process.
Support evaluation of financial opportunities and risks tied to organizational initiatives.
Reporting & Presentation
Produce financial reports at pre‑determined and ad‑hoc intervals.
Transform complex insights into executive‑ready presentations for senior leadership and board audiences.
Leadership & Team Support
Provide role‑appropriate coaching and management of junior staff and interns.
Support additional duties as assigned based on the immediate needs of the finance organization.
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
Education
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business Administration; Master of Science in Accounting or Finance; or related business specialty.
Work Experience
Required: 5 years experience in data analysis, accounting or financial project management.
Preferred: Experience in finance‑oriented professional services (advisory, valuation, management consulting, etc.). Abilities in Microsoft Access, SQL or other database analysis tools. Knowledge of the corporate Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Certifications and Licenses
Preferred: CPA, CMA, CFA, CHFP, or comparable.
