We are a privately owned, four-doctor small animal general practice located in Mechanicsville, VA. As an LVT with us, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care for animals, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the well-being of our patients. This position requires a strong commitment to animal health and welfare, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
\*\*Duties and Responsibilities: \*\*
* Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, dentals and other medical procedures.
* Perform routine laboratory tests and analyze samples. Our hospital is equipped with up-to-date equipment including dental radiographs, digital radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, surgical laser, surgical electrocautery, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory with Idexx Procyte, Catalyst, Sedivue, and inVue DX Cellular Analyzer.
* Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
* Monitor animal vital signs and overall health during treatments.
* Provide excellent animal handling and care, ensuring comfort and safety.
* Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
* Perform anesthetic/sedative procedures for surgery, including pre-operative care, intra-operative, and post-operative monitoring and care/pain management.
* Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventative care.
* Keep the clinic clean and organized, adhering to safety protocols.
* Familiarity with EzyVet and Idexx software is a plus.
\*\*Skills and Qualifications: \*\*
* Proficiency in veterinary critical care practices.
* Experience with kennel operations and animal handling.
* Familiarity with X-ray procedures and equipment.
* Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology.
* Ability to perform laboratory tests effectively.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A passion for animal care and a commitment to providing exceptional service to both pets and their owners.
